Emma Lou Andrews is a Caerphilly based artist. Her practice explores themes of joy and contentment, drawing inspiration from both indoor and outdoor spaces. Through the depiction of birds and fauna, combined with the gentle repetition of patterns inspired by quilts from her home, Emma explores the relationship between belonging and connection in the domestic and natural world.
Emma’s creative process involves building layers of watered-down acrylics and finishing with oil paint, to create contrast in texture and sheen. Visible brushstrokes and imperfect forms reflect the playful energy she feels when painting.
