Emma’s work explores quiet themes of joy and contentment, drawing inspiration from the comforting elements of both home and nature. She captures a sense of ease by painting familiar subjects that repeat throughout her work: birds and flowers noticed on walks, sunsets viewed from her garden, and the gentle repetition of patterns found in quilts from around her home.

Her creative process involves building layers of watered-down acrylics and finishing with oil paint, to create contrast in texture and sheen. Visible brushstrokes and imperfect forms reflect the playful energy she feels when painting.
